Robotics and AI has made a revolutionary change in our lives. Evidence suggests that mechanical humanized figures invention was in Greece. The concept of artificial human beings observation in science fictions since the early 19th century. However, the onset of the robotic revolution began in the 1950s.
Earliest History of Robotics:
Ctesibius is a Greek engineer and invented water clocks by using automatons also known as loose fingers in 270 BC. Archytas, a Greek mathematician, postulated a mechanical bird. He named it as, “The Pigeon” which was able to propel by steam.

Mary Shelley Wrote Frankenstein in 1818. An intimidating unreal creature was depicted by her which come to life by a mad scientist by Dr. Frankenstein. After that, Karel Capek, a Czech writer, coined the term “Robot” in 1921. Fritz Lang in 1927, released Metropolis. He introduced a human-like robot. “Metropolis” was the first film that had depicted a robot in the history of cinema.
After that, Issac Asimov, a sci-fi writer and futurist first used the word “Robotics”. He wrote a story, named “Runaround,” which was centers around ethical questions regarding artificial intelligence.
The Emergence Of First Robot:
William Grey Walter is the pioneer of British Robotics. He invented two robots with the name Elsie and Elmer in the year 1948.
In 1954, the first digitally functional and software programmable robot was author by George Devol. Joseph Engelberger and his partner George Devol established the very first robot company. The industrial robot went online back in 1961 in an automobile factory of New Jersey, USA.
The Historical Timeline About Robotics:
In 1959 a lab at MIT demonstrated computer-aided manufacturing. In addition to this, in the year 1963, the first computer-control “Rancho Arm,” a robotic arm creation to help physically disabled people.
After that, Dental System used artificial intelligence to recognize the organic molecule and their mass spectra in the year 1965. Three years later Marvin Minky creates octopus-like tentacles which had control by computer. However, the first AI-controlled mobile robot Shalay was in 1970. Four years later, the development of a robotic arm known as “Silver Arm” happens. A few years later, in 1979, the Standard Cart was created. This cart was a robot which was able to cross rooms filled with obstacles. It was able to move without any human assistance.
Industrial and commercial robots have wide uses in various fields, including medical purposes. Moreover, they are more accurate and reliable than the human being. Robots are used in those fields of work that is too dangerous or glib to human beings.
Robots has a wide use in manufacturing, transportation of goods, packing, surgery, lab research, and weaponry. Moreover, you can use these for the transportation of drugs in the human body and space exploration too. Moreover, recently, a lab in FAU has created a robot with a single atom. Introduction of DNA-robot has opened a new avenue in robotics.
